CESA has been selected to develop for AIRBUS DEFENCE & SPACE the electromechanical crane of the loading system for the A400M aircraft. This unit has two main functions: extracting and lifting the aircraft’s load and transporting the load within the aircraft.


CESA’s participation in this Program will provide the Company with a direct entry into the market of electromechanical actuation for loading systems, for both civilian and military aircraft. The Company considers this line of electromechanical products to be one of the main lines of its growth plan, and one in which CESA has made great progress in the last few months. It is a key program that will allow the Company to stimulate this new line of products, which are currently not developed in Spain.


The system weighs about 200kg and is a complex device provided with two independent motors, one for each of the load displacement and lifting movements respectively. The device also includes a power supply unit to power both motors. This unit will perform the electrical conditioning and DC conversion into different voltages from the aircraft’s 115V, three-phase power supply with variable frequency. In addition to the power unit, a control module will be installed developed for CESA by the Spanish firm GMV, based on the installation of electronic cards (including microprocessors) that receive, process and analyze the data measured by sensors and load cells for subsequent comparison with reference values, allowing the control and safe execution of the operation.


The unit will be foreseeably certified in the new development center being built by CESA in its Getafe facilities, which will be operative by mid-2015.


Finally, we expect to have the first demonstration specimens developed by mid-2015. When the production phase is reached, the program could provide the company with an annual invoicing of about 3.5M
